Convergent Questions

First off, it was amazing to meet everyone who made it to the Los Angeles convergent Friends gathering at Wess and Emily’s place (they’re fantastic hosts). The discussions and stories were encouraging and inspiring for my own walk. And then there was the singing - I think the Convergent Friends Choir is ready for the road.

As we finished up the main discussion time, Wess asked us all to consider and think about writing on a few questions. Here they are for those who might have missed it, in handy matrix format even. If you have your own blog, make sure to link to this post for trackback purposes, and if you’re blogless, then feel free to answer the questions here.

Others You
Now 1. What do you love about the other branches of Quakerism? 2. What about the Friends experience has been vital and life giving to your faith journey?
Future 3. What are your concerns about the experience of convergence? 4. What do you hope to come from your involvement with converging Friends?

Is this what you would call the “Quaker Matrix”? :)

BTW, it was very fun meeting you in person. Let’s do it soon again. I might even attend your church one of these days and let them know about your obseesion with Absinthe. {ahem}

Joe - I think you’d be amazed at how unsurprised they’d be. :) And about the Quaker Matrix - to put it together we used a cool new technique called “We-Don’t-Need-Bullets-Time”. Heh.

Chris,

I’ve published a photo of bloggers at the event, over at http://chrismsf.blogspot.com.

Type your comment here.”Authentic”, Makes me recall the desires of several students whom are attending my partners South Asia program in Chennai India. They said, “we want to experience the authentic India.” which made me aware how immature they are. Pick any street corner. Grab your camera and start taking pictures, while rotating 360 degrees. The resulting photographs will be “authentic India”.

As the spirit of God moves through the ocean of life there will be a wake that will charge from the bow and slowly disapear to calm. The wake is no more an authentic experience that we should try to recreate later as much as the calm.

Stephen - Glad you posted, but I’m trying to find the context for your comment. Was this meant for a different post?

I read Robin M’s explanation of “convergent Quaker”.
